DANBURY, CT—– Price Rite Marketplace today announced its annual Check-Out Hunger fundraising campaign has raised nearly $75,000 for area food banks. From November through December 2020, Price Rite Marketplace stores in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island collected donations at checkout for local food banks to support the fight against hunger during a year where help was needed more than ever. Since the start of the Check-Out Hunger initiative in 2002, Price Rite Marketplace has raised nearly $2 million to fight hunger in the communities its stores serve.
Price Rite Marketplace of Warwick, located at 945 Bald Hill Rd, Warwick, RI 02886, was the top fundraising store, raising more than $8,000 during the campaign. In total, Rhode Island based Price Rite Marketplace stores raised more than $28,300 for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.

NEW HAVEN, CONN. – The Connecticut Food Bank 2018 Walk Against Hunger is set for Sunday, April 29, at 1:00 PM, at Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven, rain or shine. The afternoon features a 2.4-mile walk along Long Island Sound, as well as crafts, music, and food for participants. Online registration for the Walk is at www.ctfoodbank.org/walk. Onsite registration will be available the day of the event, beginning at 1:00 PM. Last year’s Walk Against Hunger engaged approximately 700 participants in more than 70 teams.
Walk Against Hunger is a community gathering to increase awareness of the problem of hunger in our communities and to raise funds to support the hunger-fighting work of the Connecticut Food Bank.
Registration will open at 1:00 PM and the walk will begin at 2:00 PM. It will follow a 2.4-mile route through Lighthouse Point Park. Individuals and Walk teams can pre-register online at www.ctfoodbank.org/walk. Onsite registration will be available as well and donations will be accepted at the Walk. Participants who raise at least $30 will receive a Walk Against Hunger T-shirt.
Now in its 41st year, Walk Against Hunger has attracted thousands of walkers and has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support hunger relief. Participants in the Walk raise funds by securing donations for their Walk team from their community and social networks prior to the event. “The Walk is a terrific way to gather friends, family or colleagues and step out in support of our hunger-fighting mission,” said Connecticut Food Bank CEO Bernie Beaudreau. “Hunger is a difficult challenge, but by coming together, we can help to end it for many in our community.”
Proceeds from the Walk Against Hunger power the hunger-fighting mission of the Connecticut Food Bank, Beaudreau said. “We partner with a network of more than 650 community-based food assistance programs to help feed people who struggle with hunger. That means the food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other hunger relief organizations that receive food from the Connecticut Food Bank will have more resources to support their efforts.”
The Walk Against Hunger will be held rain or shine, Sunday, April 29, 2018, at 1:00 PM, in Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven.
